Top of the morning to you!

On the first day of our journey, September 16, we arrived at Shannon Airport.

Our tour guide, Connor, welcomed us to Ireland. He then drove us through the rounded limestone hills in the Burren and then past Galway Bay into Galway. It's a wonderful city with lots of activity!

We arrived at our hotel, the Hotel Meyrick. It's a beautiful hotel - very old but recently renovated. We were exhausted! But we had time to eat a delicious breakfast with some scrumptious scones while we anxiously awaited our rooms.

Everyone in the group took the afternoon off to rest up - don't forget, Ireland is five hours ahead of the United States! - and then met up for a nice, delicious dinner in the Hotel.

Pam Severini '07 and Caitlin Hacker '09 cruise on the Connemara Lady.
Today - September 17 - we will tour Connemara and admire the beauty of boglands and misty mountains. On our way to the tour, we stopped at Galway Cathedral, which was built in 1963. John F. Kennedy visited the cathedral while he was President of the United States. It was built on the grounds of the old jail!

We also passed the National University of Ireland, Galway, one of the top schools of the world!

Stay tuned for details of our cruise and Kylemore Abbey!
